In a significant move towards sustainable transport, Coles has teamed up with Linfox to introduce Australia’s first electric prime mover, the Volvo FH, into its delivery fleet. This electric powerhouse will cover up to 25 deliveries weekly across Victoria, cutting around 25,000 litres of fuel usage annually. The Volvo FH, crowned the 2024 International Truck of the Year, is capable of travelling up to 300km on a single charge, making it a true asset in Coles’ journey to reduce emissions.
Matt Swindells, Coles Chief Operations and Sustainability Officer, noted that the electric truck could prevent over 65 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually—equivalent to removing 15 cars from the roads. Linfox CEO Mark Mazurek praised the collaboration, highlighting that it marks a new chapter for the industry in pursuing carbon reduction. With similar electric vehicle trials underway, Coles is setting the stage for a greener Australian supply chain.
