Major Safety Improvements Begin on New England Highway in Kentucky, NSW

NSW, as part of the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program. The project focuses on enhancing a 3.8km stretch of the highway, located about 65km north of Tamworth, which accommodates around 3800 vehicles daily, including 850 heavy vehicles.

Key improvements include widening the road shoulders, upgrading drainage systems, and heavy pavement patching. Additionally, tree trimming and clearing will be conducted to improve sightlines, and new line marking and kerbs will enhance road safety. These upgrades aim to reduce the risk of crashes along this vital freight route.

With the project expected to be completed by mid-2025, weather permitting, it underscores the NSW Government’s commitment to maintaining safe connections between agricultural communities and key markets across the New England region.
