Tegral Truckers Trident | The Original Angle Placement Tool

In the transport industry, innovation often starts with a simple question: “Can you make this easier?” That’s exactly how the Trucker’s Trident was born. In 2015, 10 years ago, one of our early customers, Hyway Truck Accessories, had been purchasing our 470mm pallet angles, our very first product for the transport industry. They soon approached us with a request – could we supply a tool to help place pallet angles more efficiently?

We took the challenge back to our workshop, and after some brainstorming and design work, we developed the Trucker’s Trident – a tool specifically designed to simplify and speed up the placement of pallet angles.

Initial Designs

First Orders and Customer Feedback

Our first big order came from Gilbert & Roach at Huntingwood, who ordered 100 pieces. Their manager had one piece of advice: “This tool needs to be cheap if you want the guys to buy them.” That insight stuck with us as we refined the design to keep it both effective and affordable.

To ensure we were creating a product that truly met the needs of truck drivers, we sent samples out to several transport companies. After a week or so, we followed up to get their feedback. The response was overwhelmingly positive, but there were a few key adjustments that needed to be made:

• The spikes at the top were too long – They would jab into pallet wrapping, causing unnecessary damage.
• The angle slots needed modification – We adjusted the slots so that the strap guide wouldn’t spike the pallet during use.

By listening to real-world users and making improvements based on their input, we fine-tuned the Trucker’s Trident into the essential load restraint tool it is today.

Modification

The Name

The name Trucker’s Trident wasn’t something we planned from the start. One day, while carrying an early prototype through the workshop, one of our apprentices looked up and said, “Hey, that looks like King Neptune’s Trident!” From that moment on, the name stuck.

At Tegral, we take pride in creating solutions that solve real problems for the transport industry. We know that since creating the trident and introducing it to the market that there are now versions of it out there, however, we’re grateful to have played a part in bringing this idea to life and to have worked alongside truck drivers to refine it into the tool it is today.

The Trident Today

We have continued to modify the Truckers Trident according to the feedback we receive to ensure it’s the best angle placement tool on the market.
