What are they?
Maxibinders, designed by Austlift, are a modern solution for securing cargo, favoured by numerous transport companies. Designed with a strong emphasis on safety, market reports indicate a significant reduction in workplace accidents since replacing traditional lever load binders with a Maxibinder. Its ergonomic design stands out, featuring a large, easy-to-grip rubber handle and an enclosed locking mechanism to prevent tension loss during transportation.
How to use a Maxibinder?
Preparing for Use:
- Position the Maxibinder with the handle upright (stowed).
- Attach the top hook to the binding chain without twisting it.
- Pull out the control plate after connecting the top hook.
- Push the handle all the way down until it locks into the free-wheel position.
Tensioning:
- Pull the bottom hook fully out and ensure the chain is untwisted before connecting it to the binding chain.
- Pull the control plate again and move the handle to the middle section.
- Release the control plate and begin tensioning by moving the handle up and down; the bottom hook will tighten.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Stand on a firm, flat, non-slip surface when using the Maxibinder.
- After tensioning, ensure the handle is stowed upright and the safety lock is engaged.
- Regularly inspect during transport to confirm the load remains secure.
Troubleshooting and Additional Information:
- If the bottom hook nears the body and the load is still loose, adjust the binding chain slack and retry.
- Check for load squashing during binding and adjust if necessary.
- Contact the dealer or call for advice if chain replacement is needed.
Completion:
- After ratcheting is complete, stow the handle upright and ensure it’s clean before storing it in your toolbox.
